Progressive rhythm is a type of rhythm that involves repetition, but this type involves the shape of the repetition that changes in a regular manner so that there is a feeling of sequential pattern occurring. Progressive rhythm is usually created with a change in the size of a shape while its color, texture or value is the varying element.
